Publications & Research at the International Urban Professionals Forum (IUPF) is a member-led platform where practitioners, professors, consultants, and other professional members publish grounded knowledge from real projects, studios, and policy work.

Rather than a traditional journal silo, it is a living forum: a place to communicate ideas, document methods and results, and reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and why; so peers across cities and regions can adapt lessons to their own contexts.

Contributions span practice notes, case dossiers, teaching briefs, research articles, and reflective essays authored by IUPF members and their collaborators. Every submission receives proportionate peer review from fellow members with relevant expertise, emphasizing clarity, contextual rigor, replicability, and ethical standards. The aim is applied intelligence: citable outputs that help teams make better decisions, design better processes, and deliver better outcomes on the ground.

  • High-quality self-published books and articles (print and online). Edited volumes, handbooks, and practitioner briefs curated by an international editorial board; professional copy-editing, design, and citation management; open or hybrid access models to maximize reach while preserving quality.

  • International journals, reports, and policy briefs. Special issues co-led with allied journals; city and regional reports; executive summaries for decision-makers; and policy briefs distilling comparative evidence into clear options, risks, and implementation steps aligned with the SDGs.

  • Collaborative research across borders and institutions. Multi-city consortia and university-municipality partnerships that harmonize indicators, share datasets securely, and co-produce methods (mixed-methods evaluations, spatial analytics, participatory design, impact assessment) with equitable recognition of all contributors.

  • Resource library with global planning tools and case studies. A curated, searchable repository of templates, datasets, code snippets, dashboards, and annotated case studies; versioned updates, permissive licensing where possible, and translations to broaden applicability across contexts.

In sum, IUPF’s Publications & Research turns member experience into shared capacity: ideas communicated in the voice of practitioners, strengthened by peer review from the community, and organized so they can be reused, adapted, and cited. By valuing practice-based evidence alongside academic inquiry, the Forum helps urban professionals move from insight to implementation faster, more transparently, and with accountability to the places we serve.
