At IUPF, we aim to create a space where professionals from across the urban disciplines can come together to share knowledge, ideas, and experiences. Through dialogue and exchange, we work to build a collective vision for the future of our cities; a vision that reflects the diverse context that local administrations face within our global network. By fostering collaboration across planning, design, environment, technology, social sciences and professionals of the development industry, we seek to shape an integrated understanding of urban challenges and opportunities, generating new insights that can guide both policy and practice.
Yet vision alone is not enough. The true challenge lies in transforming ideas into reality. Urbanism today is confronted not only by complex technical and social issues but also by obstacles of politics, governance, and funding. At IUPF, we believe that overcoming these barriers requires professionals like us to come to the table and express the thoughts and challenges that have come with experience. It also requires cooperation, creativity, and persistence. Our role is to bring together minds and resources, to align strategies, and to support the translation of shared visions into concrete outcomes that can be implemented in our different realities and improve the quality of life in cities and regions around the world.
Becoming a Member
Joining the International Professionals Urban Forum (IUPF) is straightforward and designed to welcome committed professionals into our global community. Our statutes simply require that new applicants receive the recommendation of two existing IUPF members and demonstrate that they are active professionals working in fields related to the urban realm. If you do not know anyone yet, send us a message with a short bio and contact info. We will plan a short call and our community will be excited to welcome you.

Members’ Rights
- To participate fully in the activities, discussions, and decision-making processes of IUPF.
- To vote in General Assemblies and elections once validated as members under the Statutes.
- To access resources, publications, and events organized by IUPF.
- To publish with peer review among IUPF members, contributing to collective knowledge production.
- To participate in all initiatives proposed by the IUPF Network, from research projects to collaborative events.
- To propose initiatives, working groups, or projects that align with IUPF’s mission.
- To represent IUPF in conferences, seminars, or professional gatherings when duly appointed.
- To benefit from the global network of multidisciplinary professionals committed to advancing innovative, inclusive, and sustainable urbanism.
Members’ Obligations
- To uphold the values, Statutes, the Charter, and internal regulations of IUPF.
- To contribute to the objectives of the Forum with integrity, professionalism, and mutual respect.
- To maintain respectful communication among members, especially when opposing views arise, focusing on argumentation about the topic.
- To provide accurate information for membership and comply with KYC (Know your Customer) and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) provisions.
- To actively engage in knowledge-sharing and collaborative work across disciplines and regions.
- To support the community by endorsing new members and fostering inclusiveness.
- To respect and follow decisions made democratically by the General Assembly and elected bodies.
