Technical Assistance at the International Urban Professionals Forum (IUPF) helps cities, regions, and institutions move from intent to implementation.

We assemble multidisciplinary teams: planning and design, engineering, ecology, public health, finance, law, and data,to respond to real briefs under real constraints. Each engagement begins with a short discovery sprint to clarify objectives, evidence needs, risks, timelines, and stakeholders. We then co-produce actionable deliverables; decision memos, options appraisals, implementation playbooks, terms of reference, and monitoring frameworks, so that programs aligned with the SDGs can launch quickly and improve over time. Integrity and inclusion guide our work: transparent roles and affiliations, conflict-of-interest safeguards, ethical data practices, and support for participation from under-represented communities and early-career professionals.

  • Strategic advice on urban development projects. We provide end-to-end guidance from concept to delivery: baseline diagnostics, scenario and feasibility testing, cost and risk appraisal, design and procurement strategies, financing pathways, phasing plans, and governance arrangements—always tailored to local capacity and budget realities.

  • Peer reviews and expert panels. Independent design and policy reviews strengthen proposals before major decisions. Panels draw on IUPF’s global network to stress-test assumptions, assess evidence quality, and recommend practical adjustments on plans, codes, environmental assessments, mobility schemes, housing programs, and public-realm projects.

  • Support for policy formulation and implementation. We help draft and operationalize policies, standards, and by-laws; define KPIs and data pipelines; design training for officials; and stand up pilot projects with feedback loops. Toolkits include model TORs, checklists, and monitoring templates so institutions can replicate and scale.

How we work: requests can originate from municipal departments, regional agencies, ministries, universities, NGOs, and community partnerships. We favor blended teams that pair international expertise with local practitioners and knowledge holders, combining field work (site walks, audits, clinics) with persistent digital collaboration rooms. Clear statements of work set scope, milestones, and handover plans; learning-by-doing is built in through on-the-job coaching and documentation that remains with the client.

In sum, IUPF’s Technical Assistance translates vision into action, linking global insight with local specificity, building institutional capacity, and delivering measurable progress toward inclusive, resilient, and sustainable urban and territorial development.
